The tariffs are on all imports for cars and parts from the specific Countries as at whim decided by the President.
Even American made cars will increase, since many parts of a car are imported from countries on the Tariff applied list.
Less people will buy a new car and delay purchases, therefore Car plants will reduce capacity, with less sales, then reduce employees, and it will create a vicious circle, hitting the economy for all consumers.
Parts needed for repairs will become more difficult to find, therefore will also increase in price.
